TN-W13 Enabling logging
Logging a site scan
To produce a log of a site scan:
- Run the application
- Press Ctrl+Shift+L on the Windows keyboard or Cmd+Shift+L on the Mac - the status bar should say “Started logging to Mapper.log”
- Scan the site
- Press Ctrl+Shift+L or Cmd+Shift+L again - the log will appear in a Notepad or Console window
In versions prior to PowerMapper 5.0 and SortSite 3.06 the log is not displayed automatically - you need to locate it using the steps below.
Logging the app starting
To produce a log of the application starting up:
- Run
cmd.exe - Find the folder the application is installed in and change directory to that folder using the
CDcommand. For example:CD "c:\Program Files (x86)\PowerMapper Software\SortSite 6\" - Run the application from the command line with the /LOG parameter (e.g.
SortSite.exe /LOGorMapper.exe /LOG) - Quit the application
On Windows this produces a log called “Mapper.log” in the current user’s application data folder. For example, C:\Documents and Settings\Homer\Local Settings\Application Data\PowerMapper Software\SortSite or C:\Users\Marge\AppData\Local\PowerMapper Software\PowerMapper.
On Macintosh this produces a log called “Mapper.log” in the current user’s Library folder. For example, ~/Library/PowerMapper Software/SortSite or ~/Library/PowerMapper Software/PowerMapper.
Applies To: SortSite 3.0 and PowerMapper 4.0 or later
