Privacy Policy and Cookies

Your privacy is important to us and we will not do anything to violate your trust.

We collect these sorts of information on this site:

  • Anonymous information about web site visits (which cannot be associated with a particular user)
  • Personal information from customers who buy products (name, street address, email and phone number)

We treat personal information as confidential. We never sell it and never share it with anyone for their own marketing. It is shared only with service providers who process it on our behalf - payment processing (BlueSnap, Stripe), accounting and sales tax (Xero, Avalara), customer support (FogBugz) and hosting and email delivery (Microsoft Azure) - under agreements that limit them to providing those services, and with authorities where the law requires it.

We use customer information for the following purposes:

  • Providing the software and online service you have bought or are trialing
  • Sending service emails - password resets, scan results, security alerts, invoices and renewal notices
  • Providing technical support
  • Sending replacement software and determining upgrade and update eligibility
  • Conducting market research, such as asking how we can improve the product
  • Fraud prevention

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google.

We advertise on Google. If you arrive from a Google ad and accept advertising cookies, Google records the click, and if you later start a free trial or buy a subscription we tell Google Ads that the click led to a signup or purchase so that we can measure whether the advertising works. Analytics and Advertising Cookies

These are only set if you accept analytics or advertising cookies in the cookie banner:

  • _ga and _ga_* - Google Analytics, distinguishes visitors
  • _gcl_aw - Google Ads, records the ad click you arrived from (90 days)
  • _pm_ref - records how you first arrived at the site, such as from a search engine or a link, so that we can see which sources lead to trials of our online service (90 days)

Desktop Applications

Software updates are only available to licensed users with active Support and Maintenance contracts. Your license key and the version of the software you are running are used by the Update Watch feature to determine eligibility for updates.
